I wanted to give you an update on where the league and our team is at this point. Last night, on our board meeting, it was decided to tell the town we are leaning towards practicing in town, following guidelines put in place by town/DPH. We would attend a tackling clinic/practice once a week at an indoor facility and then play our games away with other Shoreline teams who are still playing traditional tackle football. Currently 5th grade has Monroe, Newtown and Shelton and Pomperaug playing tackle. As coaches, we fully support this option.
Today, the league presented this option to the town. They advised we would have their decision by Friday.
Coaches have decided to wait for that answer before starting practice again. I thank everyone for their patience and understanding, this has been a brutal process. I do realize there are other football options outside of our league. And though I will not personally explore them, I fully support any family that does. These kids deserve options to play this fall, whether that be football, baseball, softball, soccer, etc.
