Parents/Players,

The Southington High School Blue Knights, lead by Head Coach Mike Drury, will hold its Blue Knight Youth Development Football Clinic the week of July 22-26, 2013 from 5-7pm each night at Southington High School.

Students entering 3rd grade though 9th grade are eligible to attend.

Registration Costs

Early Registration (by July 15th) - $100.00
Late Registration (after July 15th) - $120.00
Daily Rate (athletes are encouraged to attend even if they cannot make entire week) - $25.00 Daily Fee

All athletes will receive camp t-shirt & camp certificate. Awards will be given in the areas of Skills Challenge, Hustle, Sportsmanship and Punt, Kick and Pass.

A copy of the camp brochure will be added to the Documents page of the Southington Knights Travel Football & Cheerleading website.

Knights Families,
 
On-line registration opens Monday 4/1 for the 2013 season.  Make sure to sign your child up and secure their spot on a team!
 
Spread the word to others in town about signing their kids up to be part of the Knights family either in flag, tackle or cheer!!!  Flyers will be sent home through the schools later in the month.
 
Payment can be made at the time of registration via credit card.  
 
Even though you register on line, you still need to fill out the registration packet and waiver of release prior to the start of the season.  These can be found on the documents tab of our web site.
 
The walk in registration will be held on the following dates/times:
 
Saturday May 11th                   10am-1pm
Wednesday May 15^th               6-8pm
Saturday May 18^th                    10am-1pm

The Turf Committee is selling personalized brick pavers to help support the newly installed field at the High School.  These pavers will be displayed along the walkway on the interior of the turf complex.  Our league hopes to use this field as much as possible so your support is very welcome.

Parents,

In 2012 concussion awareness came to the forefront in youth sports. We read the headlines. We heard the concerns. We acted.

The Southington Travel Knights took the proactive step to require EVERY coach have a form of documented concussion training prior to stepping on the practice field in 2012.

We then took it the next step. We wrote that requirement into our By Laws. Our vigilence on this topic does not end because the calendar year changes. Our concern is, and will always be, for the safety of our players and cheerleaders.

Many of our league coaches and volunteers participate in the same concussion training the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference requires of its coaches. Other coaches and volunteers take an online course sponsored by the Center for Disease Control.

The natural progression is to educate our players and parents. Concussions don't just happen on the football field or sideline. They happen in backyards, at work and in the house. The sooner the signs of concussion are recognized, the sooner proper treatment can be provided.

To follow is a link to the CDC Heads Up Online Training. It takes 30-45 minutes to complete. It is well worth the time.
